Youth Ministry Coordinator
RESPONSIBLE TO: Spiritual Guardian

ACCOUNTABLE TO: Committed Maltfriscans
ROLE PURPOSE
Responsibilities can be split into 4 main parts: the Chapter of Mats, support of the Youth Rep, the youth retreat and formation. Plan programmes for and create appropriate environments and activities for age groups and activities. Relate and respond to children and their carers effectively.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Support the Spiritual Guardian in maintaining the good order of the Community

Attend management committee meetings (ARM) where appropriate

Ensure the community abides by its policies and priorities

Provide and manage resources necessary for the youth ministry programme in liaison with the Finance Officer and those leading sessions

Carry out risk assessments for environments or activities

Work alongside the Youth Representative to ensure that the programme for the young people is appropriate and relevant to the needs of the young people

Prepare appropriate paperwork for parents and carers

Take an active role in the planning and organisation of CoM.

PASTORAL CARE AND FORMATION
-
Actively support those leading youth ministry sessions to ensure consistency

Ensure that the programme addresses the spiritual needs of the age group

Support the youth representative in being an advocate for the young people in the community.
PROTECTION OF CHILDREN AND VULNERABLE ADULTS

Cooperate with the Maltfriscan Community Safeguarding Officer

Ensure adult helper numbers are sufficient for each session

Be familiar with and comply with Safeguarding policies and procedures and promote good practice

Ensure the above events for young people operate within Safeguarding principles.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Commitment to the teachings of the Catholic Church

A committed Maltfriscan
-
A willingness and ability to give suitable time to the responsibilities of the role
-
The ability to communicate and relate with respect and ease to children and adults
-
Have appropriate experience of working with the relevant age group.
